York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I action:

The Mustangs of South Western (2-1 overall, 0-0 League) edged the Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division’s Thundering Herd of Carlisle (2-1 overall, 0-0 league) 17-14 in a thriller.  The Mustangs gained 169-yards rushing and 104-yards passing for a total of 273-yards of offense. Senior quarterback Brock Geiman completed 7 of 14 passes for the 104-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 30-yards to Noah Staub, 2 for 23-yards to DeSean Crump, 2 for 19-yards to Jeff Green (including a 14-yard touchdown), 1 for 17-yards to Zach Hughes, and 1 for 15-yards to Corbin Byers, for the Mustangs.  Tyler Fulmore led the Mustangs rushing attack with 19 carries for 93-yards, followed by Nigel Williams with 5 for 28, Geiman with 5 for 19 (including a 6-yard touchdown), Crump with 6 for 14, Hughes with 3 for 9, Miles Francis with 1 for 4, Jacob Muir with 1 for 4-yards, Green with 4 carries for no yards, and a team loss of 2-yards.  Wes Sneeringer kicked a 26-yard field goal and 2 extra points, Carson Perry intercepted 1 pass and returned it 35-yards, Francis intercepted 1 pass and returned it 9-yards and recorded 1 pass defense, Staub intercepted 1 pass and returned it 3-yards and recorded 1 pass defense, Corbin Byers recorded 5 pass hurries and 2 defended passes, Matt Smolko recorded 2 defended passes, Skylar Bowman recorded 1 pass hurry and 1 pass defense, Quan Marshall, and Chris Steckel each recorded 1 pass hurry, and Bubba Carbaugh, Zach Hughes, and Nate VanCampen each recorded 1 pass defense, for the Mustangs.  The Thundering Herd gained only 32-yards rushing and 331 yards passing for a total of 363 yards gained.  Eric Harris completed 28 of 45 passes for the 331-yards, 9 for 149-yards to Gavyn Barnes, 6 for 87-yards to Zion Patterson, 6 for 58-yards to Nate Barnes, 3 for 26-yards to Trai Powell, and 3 for 11-yards to DeShawn Millington.  Tyler Greene led the Thundering Herd rushing attack with 12 carries for 44-yards, followed by Nate Barnes with 2 for 7-yards, Rojen Procopio with 3 for minus 4-yards, Millington with 1 carry for minus 5-yards, and Gavyn Barnes with 2 carries for minus 10-yards.  Gavyn Barnes threw a 2-point conversion pass to Jordan Purcell for the Thundering Herd.

*The Lions of Red (2-1 overall, 0-0 league) defeated the Division II Bulldogs of West York (0-3 overall, 0-0 league) 35-14.  Dylan Gurreri led the Lions rushing attack with 137-yards (including a 62-yard touchdown), followed by Alex Keough with 93 (including a 72-yard touchdown), Dalton Grove with 69 (including touchdowns of 1 and 45-yards), Patrick Daugherty with 4-yards, and Jamel Foster with 1-yard.  Quarterback Grove completed 3 of 6 passes for 16-yards, 1 for 8-yards to James Jackson, 1 for 7-yards to Dillon Hildebrand, and 1 for 1-yard to Keough, for the Lions.  Kendrick Boyd-Gillespie returned a punt 89-yards for a touchdown and Sam Emig kicked 5 extra points for the Lions.  In the third and early fourth quarters the Lions put the game out of reach with long touchdown runs on three successive offensive plays.  Cadence Thomas led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 85-yards (including a 6-yard touchdown), followed by Ryan Narber with 35, and Tyler Folk with 9-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown.  Quarterback Folk completed 12 of 19 passes for 172-yards, 4 for 78-yards to Terry Cains, 2 for 37-yards to Narber, 2 for 28-yards to Dante Dorm, 1 for 14-yards to Andrew LaManna, 1 for 9-yards to Thomas Bentzel, and 2 for 6-yards to Thomas, for the Bulldogs.  Evan Keim kicked 2 extra points for the Bulldogs.

*The Trojans of York Suburban (1-2 overall, 0-0 league) defeated the Division I Rockets of Spring Grove (1-2 overall, 0-0 league) 29-22.  Thomas Merkle led the Trojans rushing attack with 38-yards, followed by Teague Hoffman with 30 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Jadon Haynes with 24, Dajour Henderson with 9-yards, and Travis Edwards with 1-yard.  Quarterback Merkle completed 18 of 28 passes for 191-yards and 3 touchdowns, 8 for 105-yards to Brad Smith (including touchdowns of 14 and 16-yards) 4 for 60-yards to Collin Mailman (including a 32-yard touchdown), 3 for 17-yards to Colin Deardorf, and 3 for 9-yards to Hoffman, for the Trojans.  Jonas Atkinson kicked 3 extra points, Merkle threw a 2-point conversion to Smith, Dustin Knaub caused a fumble and defended 1 pass, and Willie Batty and Deardorf each defended 1 pass, for the Trojans.  Nick Erickson led the Rockets rushing attack with 144-yards (including an 85-yard touchdown), followed by Jake Messersmith with 14, and L.J. *The Nighthawks of Hanover (3-0 overall, 0-0 league) defeated the Division II Golden Knights of Eastern York (2-1 overall, 0-0 League) 13-6.  Jordan Laughman led the Nighthawks rushing attack with 149-yards (including a 5-yard touchdown), followed by Devon Bell with 40, Deandre Kerr with 21, and Justin Barnes with 2-yards.  Quarterback Kyle Krout completed 11 of 24 passes for 113-yards and 1 touchdown, 4 for 50-yards to Resean Williams (including a 19-yard touchdown, 2 for 14-yards to Nick Seymour, 1 for 14-yards to Bill Morris, 2 for 13-yards to Colton Ehrhart, and 1 for 11-yards to Luis Lara, for the Nighthawks.  Everrett Kenworthy kicked 1 extra point for the Nighthawks.  Isaiah King led the Golden Knights rushing attack with 36-yards, followed by Brennen Shenk with 25, Logan Kline with 21-yards, and Ryan Kalke with minus 11-yards.  Quarterback Kalke completed 2 of 9 passes for 56-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 55-yards and a touchdown to Seth Bernstein and 1 for 1-yard to Derek Zurin, for the Golden Knights.

*The Eagles of Bermudian Springs, (0-3 overall, 1-0 league) were defeated by the Mid-Penn Colonial Division’s Greyhounds of Shippensburg (2-1 overall, 0-0 league) 26-16.  Zion Ware led the Greyhounds rushing attack with 126-yards (including a 4-yard touchdown), followed by Adam Houser with 21-yards, Cole Friese with minus 1-yard, and Tyler Gustafson with minus 24-yards (including a 2-yard touchdown).  Quarterback Tyler Gustafson completed 16 of 29 passes for 204-yards and 2 touchdowns, 6 for 53-yards to Wade Mills, 3 for 60-yards to Cody Gustafson (including a 31-yard touchdown), 4 for 48-yards to Houser (including a 34-yard touchdown), and 3 for 43-yards to Friese, for the Greyhounds.  Jackson VanHorne kicked 2 extra points for the Greyhounds.  Ashton West led the Eagles rushing attack with 105-yards (including a 4-yard touchdown), followed by Devon Hodgen with 94, Chase Dull with 47, and Tristan Hoke with 4-yards.  Quarterback Hoke completed 4 of 20 passes for 62-yards and 1 touchdown, 2 for 26-yards to Ethan Frank (including a 25-yard touchdown), 1 for 19-yards to Dull, and 1 for 15-yards to Quinton Nace, for the Eagles.  Noah Aeppli kicked a 33-yard field goal and 1 extra point for the Eagles.

*The Squires of Delone Catholic (1-2 overall, 0-0 league) were shut out by the 1A Region 7 Golden Tornadoes of Union, Tennessee (5-0 overall, 3-0 league) 56-0.  The Golden Tornadoes continued their winning streak, now up to 32 games.  Brantley Clendenin led the Golden Tornadoes rushing attack with 157-yards (including a 25-yard touchdown), followed by Lazzarus Scribner with 160 (including touchdowns of 85 and 54-yards), Braxton Waddell with 43 (including a 10-yard touchdown), Tashawn Allen with 27, Trey Jones with 15, Will Harris with 14 (including a 1-yard touchdown), D’Carrious with 9, Taj Reid with 7, and Andrew Easley with 3-yards.  Quarterback Scribner completed 3 of 3 passes for 66-yards and 2 touchdowns, 1 for 30-yards and a touchdown to Stephens, 1 for 36-yards and a touchdown to Jeremy Bumpus, and 1 for 7-yards to Taj Reid, for the Golden Tornadoes.  Reid returned a blocked field goal 80-yards for a touchdown and Alex Vasquez kicked 8 extra points for the Golden Tornadoes.  Tavian Dorsey led the Squires rushing attack with 98-yards, followed by Zach Hart with 7, Sean Sneeringer with 5, Derek Weaver with 4-yards, and Brian Shermeyer with minus 29-yards.  Quarterback Shermeyer completed 3 of 10 passes for 27-yards, 1 for 25-yards to Brandon Zumbrum, 1 for 1-yard to Dorsey, and 1 for 1-yard to Alex Maitland, for the Squires.

*The Mid-Penn Colonial Division’s Polar Bears of Northern York (2-1 overall, 0-0 league) defeated the Mid-Penn Keystone Division’s Wildcats of Mechanicsburg (0-3 overall, 0-0 league) 42-13.  Michael Kearney led the Polar Bears rushing attack with 141-yards (including 2 touchdowns), followed by Bobby Shelly with 81 (including 1 touchdown), Curtis Robison with 32-yards, (including 1 touchdown), John Kearney with 13, Ray Avila with 9, Justin Markle with 7, and Jake Cromer with 2-yards.  Quarterback Robison completed 3 of 6 passes for 60-yards and 1 touchdown, 2 for 34-yards to Shelly (including 1 touchdown) and 1 to Joey Razzano for 26-yards, and Justin Markle completed 1 of 3 passes for 4-yards to Kearney, for the Polar Bears.  Aidan Alves kicked 4 extra points, Andrew Swaisgood intercepted a pass and returned it 20-yards, Avila intercepted a pass and returned it 7-yards, Razzano recovered a fumble and returned it 26-yards for a touchdown, Noah Smith recorded 2 sacks, and Owen Blaschak, Austin Miller, Trevor Morris, Gunnar Renninger, and Cale Walker each recorded 1 sack, for the Polar Bears.  No further information was known about this game.
