District 3 Notes for York & Adams Counties – Week 6

York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I action:

The Mustangs of South Western (5-1 overall, 3-0 League) visited the den of the Lions of Red Lion.(3-3 overall, 1-2 league) and galloped their way to a convincing 31-14 victory in league action.  The Mustangs and the Dallastown Wildcats are in the same division and their faceoff next week will be for sole possession of first place.  The Mustangs gained 385-yards rushing and 74-yards passing for a total of 459-yards of offense. Senior quarterback Brock Geiman completed 7 of 14 passes for the 74-yards, 1 for 36-yards to Matt Smolko, 2 for 22-yards to Noah Staub, 2 for 16-yards to Jeff Green, and 1 for no yards to Miles Francis for the Mustangs.  Mike Johnson led the Mustangs rushing attack with 8 carries for 103-yards, followed by Robby Harbison with 8 for 62-yards (including a 10-yard touchdown), Geiman with 6 for 52-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), Tyler Fulmore with 10 for 58-yards, Green with 2 for 41-yards, Miles Francis with 7 for 33-yards, Zack Hughes with 7 for 20-yards (including a 2-yard touchdown), Nigel Williams with 3 for 19-yards (including a 17-yard touchdown), and a team loss of 3-yards.  Wes Sneeringer kicked a 19-yard field goal and 4 extra points, Francis intercepted 2 passes (returning one of them for 39-yards) and defended 1 pass, Staub intercepted 1 pass and returned it 20-yards, recovered 1 fumble, and defended 1 pass, Bubba Carbaugh recorded 1 sack for a 4-yard loss, Carson Perry caused 1 fumble, Skylar Bowman and Nate VanCampen each defended 1 pass, Corbin Byers recorded 7 tackles and 5 pass hurries, Mike Farace recorded 10 tackles and 1 pass hurry, Tyler Fulmore recorded 10 tackles, and Chris Steckel recorded 1 pass hurry, for the Mustangs.  The Lions gained 53-yards rushing and 57-yards passing for a total of 110 yards gained.  Dalton Grove completed 8 of 20 passes for the 57-yards, 4 for 31-yards to Matthias Cabbell, 1 for 9-yards to James Jackson, 1 for 8-yards to Christian Castle, 1 for 5-yards to Dillon Hildebrand, and 1 for 4-yards to Derek Ross, for the Lions.  Kenny Holloway led the Lions rushing attack with 10 carries for 28-yards, followed by Antwan Jackson with 9 carries for 21-yards, Alex Keough with 3 carries for 3-yards, Sam Emig with 1 carry for 3-yards, and Grove with 2 carries for minus 2-yards.

The Wildcats of Dallastown (6-0 overall, 3-0 league) edged out the Bobcats of Northeastern (5-1 overall, 2-1 League) 15-12 in league action.  The Wildcats and the South Western Mustangs are in the same division and their faceoff next week will be for sole possession of first place.  Cade Gold led the Wildcats rushing attack with 85-yards (including a 12-yard touchdown), followed by Dillon Callahan with 26, Jake Garrity with 5-yards, and Zion DeVance and Jack Marks each with no yards.  Quarterback Gold completed 14 of 26 passes for 96-yards and 1 touchdown, 6 for 36-yards to Jake Jansen, 4 for 37-yards to Anthony Garcia, 3 for 22-yards to Jawaun McMillian (including an 8-yard touchdown), and 1 for 1-yard to Connor Moore, and Drake Pew completed 1 pass for minus 15-yards to McMillian, for the Wildcats.  Gold threw a 2-point conversion pass to Jansen and Jordan Burns recovered a fumble for the Wildcats.  Anu Johnson led the Bobcats rushing attack with 51-yards, followed by Shannon Valenti, Jr. with 40, Taemar Willis with 20, Chris Whack with 14, Michael Cooper with 6, and Kody Reese with 1-yard.  Quarterback Valenti, Jr. completed 7 of 13 passes for 150-yards and 1 touchdown, 2 for 82-yards to David Ankney (including a 67-yard touchdown), 1 for 26-yards to Dezmond Wigginton, 1 for 16-yards to Jordan Zirkle, 1 for 15-yards to Jonathan Butler, and 1 for 11-yards to Johnson, for the Bobcats.  Cameron Artman kicked 2 field goals, for 30 and 40-yards, Fred Mulbah intercepted 1 pass and recorded 1.5 sacks, Tate Lau recorded 1 sack, Dedrick Turner recorded a half sack, Adam Kipp defended 2 passes, and Fernansdo Flores and Willis each defended 1 pass, for the Bobcats.

The Rockets of Spring Grove (3-3 overall, 2-1 league) defeated the Bearcats of William Penn, York High, (0-6 overall, 0-3 league) 48-20 in league action.  Nick Erickson led the Rockets rushing attack with 83-yards (including a 7-yard touchdown), followed by L.J. Chisolm with 21, A.J Fridinger with 15, Ryan Daugherty with 10-yards, and Jake Messersmith with minus 21-yards.  Quarterback Messersmith completed 10 of 18 passes for 171-yards and 5 touchdowns, 4 for 86-yards to Brady Stein (including touchdowns of 23 and 16-yards), 1 for 50-yards and a touchdown to Connor Reed, 3 for 32-yards to Chisolm (including a 23-yard touchdown), 1 for 9-yards and a touchdown to Anthony Beddia, and 1 for minus 6-yards to Erickson, for the Rockets.  Andrew Luckenbaugh kicked 2 field goals (for 40 and 32-yards) and 6 extra points, and Ryan Daugherty intercepted pass, for the Rockets.  Khalid Dorsey led the Bearcats rushing attack with 106-yards (including a 71-yard touchdown), followed by Andrew Radzik with 44-yards (including a 3-yard touchdown), Angel DeJesus with 12-yards, Markeis Cash with no yards, and Justin Colston with minus 10-yards.  Quarterback Colston completed 4 of 17 passes for 61-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 37-yards and a touchdown to Nyshaun Ritter, 2 for 12-yards to Cash, and 1 for 12-yards to Jose Santiago-Curet, and DeJesus completed 1 of 8 passes for 19-yards to Cash, for the Bearcats.  Colston ran in for a 2-point conversion for the Bearcats.

The Panthers of Central York (2-4 overall, 1-2 league) defeated the Colonials of New Oxford (1-5 overall, 0-3 league) 38-19 in league action.  Shyheim Goff led the Panthers rushing attack with 118-yards (including touchdowns of 4 and 24-yards), followed by Elzir Stroman with 22 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Nik Strine with 14, Will VanDyke with 4, Noreaga Goff with 3-yards, and Sandy Paulino with minus 1-yard.  Quarterback Strine completed 3 of 11 passes for 49-yards, 1 for 32-yards to Drew Anderson, 1 for 9-yards to Corbin Chevaux, and 1 for 8-yards to Sakai Barton, for the Panthers.  Noreaga Goff returned a punt 58-yards for a touchdown, Lionel Edoukou recovered 2 fumbles and returned one 50-yards for a touchdown, Carter Luckenbaugh kicked a 40-yard field goal and 5 extra points, Brennden Jenkins recovered a fumble and returned it 16-yards and recorded 1 pass hurry, Quinn Bacha recovered a fumble, Chris Collins and Jackson Loring each defended 1 pass, and Lonnie Blount, Rodney Johnson, and Anthony Rivera each recorded a pass hurry, for the Panthers.  Josh Shultz led the Colonials rushing attack with 113-yards, followed by Corban Czap with 16, Trevon Brown with 11, Tanner Miler with 9, Brandon Scott with 8, and Elijah Myers with 3-yards.  Quarterback Czap completed 5 of 11 passes for 133-yards and 2 touchdowns and Miller completed 3 of 4 passes for 61-yards and 1 touchdown for the Colonials.  Brown caught 3 passes for 110-yards (including touchdowns of 44 and 53-yards from Czap), Owen Buhr caught 3 passes for 61-yards (including a 34-yard touchdown from Miller), Shane Rolle caught 1 pass for 12-yards, and Bret Saveleski caught 1 pass for 11-yards, for the Colonials.  Luiz Partida kicked 1 extra point and Czap intercepted a pass for the Colonials.

York-Adam s Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division II action:

The Eagles of Dover (4-2 overall, 3-0 league) defeated the Rams of Kennard-Dale (1-5 overall, 0-3 league) 41-20 in league action.  Brett Mohn led the Eagle rushing attack with 165-yards (including touchdowns of 67, 58, and 10-yards), followed by Durran Ledbetter with 149 (including a 57-yard touchdown), Joey Zutell with 50-yards (including a 2-yard touchdown), Cole Jesmer with no yards, and John Sterner with minus 5-yards (including a 3-yard touchdown).  Quarterback Sterner, converted from running back because the first string quarterback was out with an injury and the backup was not available for the game, attempted 3 passes and did not complete any for the Eagles.  Josh Bradley kicked 5 extra points for the Eagles.  Chase Carlile led the Rams rushing attack with 102-yards (including a 36-yard touchdown), followed by Dalton Stike with 12 (including a 40-yard touchdown), Shawn Ellis with 3-yards, and Nick Workinger with no yards.  Quarterback Stike completed 6 of 17 passes for 29-yards and 1 touchdown and Daniel Brewer completed 2 of 4 passes for 29-yards for the Rams.  Kyle Woolridge caught 1 pass for 18-yards and a touchdown from Stike, Carlile caught 2 passes for 15-yards, Austin Jenkins caught 1 pass for 10-yards, Jacob Deppen caught 2 passes for 9-yards, Connor Stokes caught 1 pass for 5-yards, and Elis caught 1 pass for 3-yards, for the Rams.  Jenkins kicked 2 extra points for the Rams.

The Trojans of York Suburban (4-2 overall, 2-0 league) defeated the Warriors of Susquehannock (2-4 overall, 1-1 League) 47-14 in league action.  Thomas Merkle set a new school career passing yardage record with 4,208-yards, surpassing the old record of 4,048-yards set by Mike Beckley in 1998.  Merkle has 4 regular season games left to chase the YAIAA career passing yardage record of 4,894 set by Matt Marshall from Spring Grove in 2006.    Dajour Henderson led the Trojans rushing attack with 156-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), followed by Teague Hoffman with 49, Jadon Haynes with 39 (including touchdowns of 5 and 7-yards), Thomas Merkle with 6, Collin Mailman with 5-yards, and Ben Igo with minus 2-yards.  Quarterback Merkle completed 12 of 20 passes for 258-yards and 4 touchdowns and Ben Igo completed 1 of 2 passes for 24-yards for the Trojans.  Mailman caught 3 passes for 121-yards (including touchdowns of 53 and 43-yards from Merkle), Colin Deardorf caught 3 passes for 49-yards (including a 5-yard touchdown from Merkle), Brad Smith caught 3 passes for 44-yards, Henderson caught 3 passes for 41-yards (including a 35-yard touchdown), and Hoffman caught 1 pass for 27-yards, for the Trojans.  Jonas Atkinson kicked 5 extra points and Montana Jones, Mailman, and Smith each intercepted a pass for the Trojans.  Kevin Clappe led the Warriors rushing attack with 81-yards (including a 10-yard touchdown), followed by Jack Allred with 42, Myles Moultrie with 23, Nick Tannura with 8, Dorian Faster with 6, Josh Stoneberg with 4-yards, and Kyle Orndorff with no yards.  Quarterback Stoneberg completed 9 of 17 passes for 95-yards and 1 touchdown, 4 for 61-yards to Tannura, 1 for 14-yards to Allred, 2 for 13-yards to Faster (including a 5-yard touchdown), and 3 for 7-yards to Pearce Bloom, for the Warriors.  Adam Hedgeland kicked2 extra points for the Warriors.

The Golden Knights of Eastern York (3-3 overall, 1-2 League) defeated the Warriors of Gettysburg (1-5 overall, 0-3 league) 33-3 in league action.  Ryan Kalke led the Golden Knights rushing attack with 124-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), followed by Brennen Shenk with 76 (including a 15-yard touchdown), Sam Pollock with 38 (including a 5-yard touchdown), Logan Kline with 36, Jordan Weaver with 21 (including a 5-yard touchdown), Shane Carberry with 19, Jimmy Kurnik with 8-yards, Lynn Snell with 1-yard, and Jahshin Snyder with 1-yard.  Quarterback Kalke completed 1 of 7 passes for 9-yards to Kurnik for the Golden Knights.  Connor Barshinger returned a fumble 44-yards for a touchdown and Robert Lecates kicked 3 extra points for the Golden Knights.  Edney Celius led the Warriors rushing attack with 59-yards, followed by Tyler Wilt with 48, Wesley Gale with 7, Bryce Newman with 6, Liaon Shelton with 4, Oakley Marsh with 3, Khalil Hill with 2-yards, Kristian Stahl with no yards, and Elijh Jackson with minus 7-yards.  Quarterback Wilt completed 1 of 8 passes for 19-yards to Marquise Camel for the Warriors.  Adam Yingling kicked a 32-yard field goal for the Warriors.

The Bulldogs of West York (2-4 overall, 2-0 league) were defeated by the Philadelphia Public League Warriors of Delaware Valley Charter (3-3 overall, 2-0 league) 37-29 in non-league action.  Shaheed Brown led the Warriors rushing attack with 127-yards (including 1 touchdown), followed by Jahmir Nuble with 68 (including 3 touchdowns), Shayne Smith (Sugar) with 48, and Kyeef Williams with 4-yards.  Quarterback Smith completed 8 of 12 passes for 230-yards and 2 touchdowns, 4 for 138-yards to Brown (including 1 touchdown), 1 for 35-yards and a touchdown to Williams, 1 for 32-yards to Kelvin Johnson, 1 for 17-yards to Nuble, and 1 for 8-yards to Imere Lubin, for the Warriors.   Lubin kicked 1 extra point, Nysair Allen intercepted a pass and returned it 20-yards, Maurice McCray recovered a fumble and defended 2 passes, Alonzo Taylor recovered a fumble, Zi’Tear Wilson defended 2 passes, Derrick Smith caused a fumble, and Christian Davis-Stukes and Devon Humphrey each defended a pass, for the Warriors.  Tyler Folk ran for a touchdown and passed for a touchdown and Terry Cains caught 2 touchdown passes, one from Folk and one from Dante Dorm, for the Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs were the first team to score on the Warriors in three games.  No other information about this game was available.

York-Adam s Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division III action:

The Nighthawks of Hanover (6-0 overall, 3-0 league) defeated the Knights of Fairfield (1-5 overall, 0-3 league) 53-14 in league action.  Jordan Laughman led the Nighthawks rushing attack with 114-yards (including touchdowns of 10 and 7-yards), followed by Resean Williams with a 52-yard touchdown run, Colton Ehrhart with a 16-yard touchdown run, Kyle Krout with 9, DeAndre Kerr with 6, Justin Barnes with 5, Devon Bell with 3, Nick Seymour with 2-yards, and Camden Mumma with minus 8-yards.  Quarterback Krout completed 10 of 15 passes for 216-yards and 3 touchdowns, 3for 156-yards to Williams (including touchdowns of 70, 43, and 43-yards), 2 for 21-yrds to Ehrhart, 1 for 13-yards to Hunter Martz, 1 for 10-yards to Luis Lara, 1 for 10-yards to Seymour, 1 for 4-yards to Laughman, and 1 for 2-yards to Austin Bryson, for the Nighthawks.  Laughman ran in for two 2-point conversions, Ehrhart ran in for two 2-point conversions, Kerr ran in for a 2-point conversion, and Everett Kenworthy kicked 1 extra point for the Nighthawks.  Charlie Burnett led the Knights rushing attack with 33-yards, followed by Tyler Karsteter with 13-yards, Matt Petrie with minus 1-yard, and Darian Mort with minus 3-yards (including a 2-yard touchdown).  Quarterback Mort completed 18 of 37 passes for 267-yards and 1 touchdown, 10 for 199-yards to Petrie, 6 for 50-yards to Aaron Moore (including a 9-yard touchdown), 1 for 11-yards to Burnett, and 1 for 7-yards to Karsteter, for the Knights.  Mort threw a 2-point conversion pass to Petrie for the Knights.

The Canners of Biglerville (4-2 overall, 3-0 league) defeated the Squires of Delone Catholic (2-4 overall, 1-2 league) 21-6 in league action.  Colton Sentz led the Canners rushing attack with 102-yards (including a 30-yard touchdown), followed by Ben Hurda with 25, Dayne Showers with 13 (including a 4-yard touchdown), Timothy Weaver with 12 (including a 6-yard touchdown), and Gage McAuliffe with 6-yards.  Quarterback Hurda completed 8 of 17 passes for 73-yards, 5 for 44-yards to McAuliffe and 1 for 8-yards to Nate Newberry, for the Canners.  Sentz kicked 3 extra points, Victor Lopez recovered a fumble, caused a fumble, and recorded 3 sacks, Dalton Cox caused a fumble, Newberry defended 4 passes, Malakai Curtis defended 2 passes, and McAuliffe defended 2 passes, for the Canners.  Tavian Dorsey led the Squires rushing attack with 108-yards (including a 2-yard touchdown), followed by Zach Hart with 35, Sean Sneeringer with 25, Alec Maitland with 5, and Brian Shermeyer with 3-yards.  Quarterback Shermeyer completed 9 of 22 passes for 77-yards, 2 for 36-yards to Dylan Hartlaub, 3 for 15-yards to Dorsey, 2 for 14-yards to Larry Leffler III, and 2 for 12-yards to Sneeringer, for the Squires.

The Eagles of Bermudian Springs, (2-4 overall, 2-1 league) defeated the Spartans of York County Tech (1-5 overall, 0-3 league) 34-8 in league action.  Ashton West led the Eagles rushing attack with 111-yards (including a 2-yard touchdown), followed by Devon Hodgen with 92 (including touchdowns of 60 and 11-yards), Addison Wheeler with 46, Darren Beall with 30, Chase Dull with 1-yard (including a 1-yard touchdown), and Trenton Hull with 1-yard.  Quarterback Dull completed 3 of 12 passes for 48-yards, 2 for 52-yards to Trevor Grim and 1 for minus 4-yards to Hodgen, for the Eagles.  Beall returned a punt 52-yards for a touchdown, Noah Aeppli kicked 4 extra points, Quinton King recovered a fumble, Logan Luckenbaugh recovered a fumble, and Chris Martin recorded a sack, for the Eagles.  Matthew Rossi led the Spartans rushing attack with 57-yards, followed by Demarius Wiggins with 22 (including a 49-yard touchdown), Benjamin Jackson with 12, Isaiah Colon with 9, and Jordan Ray with 9-yards.  Quarterback Wiggins completed 4 of 13 passes for 24-yards, 2 for 10-yards to Austin Wehler, 1 for 10-yards to Ray, and 1 for 4-yards to Brandon Montouth, for the Spartans.  Colon ran in for a 2-point conversion for the Spartans.

The Fighting Irish of York Catholic (2-4 overall, 2-1 league) defeated the Thunderbolts of Littlestown (1-5 overall, 1-2 league) 35-14 in league action.  Jakkar Kinard led the Fighting Irish rushing attack with 160-yards (including touchdowns of 2, 1, and 18-yards), followed by Dan Yokemick with 123 (including a 5-yard touchdown), Sean Lamont with 41, Brandon Creisher with 3, Luke Brennan with 2-yards, and Andrew Poison with no yards.  Quarterback Yokemick completed 5 of 10 passes for 68-yards and 1 touchdown, 3 for 37-yards to Brennan, 1 for 25-yards and a touchdown to Kinard, and 1 for 6-yards to Nick Anzalone, for the Fighting Irish.  Brennan kicked 5 extra points for the Fighting Irish.  Wesley Storey led the Thunderbolts rushing attack with 117-yards (including a 29-yard touchdown)), followed by Drew Matthews with 30, Cody Boyd with 23, Jose Ariza with 6, Dylan Morey with 6, Jackson Hornbrook with 3-yards, Dylan Sizemore with no yards, and Austin Watters with no yards.  Quarterback Boyd completed 11 of 27 passes for 131-yards, 4 for 68-yards to Hornbrook, 4 for 40-yards to Morey, 1 for 11-yards to Morey, 1 for 6-yards to Trenton Hartlaub, and 1 for 6-yards to Alex Potts, and Connor Geiman completed 1 pass for 65-yards and a touchdown to Hornbrook, for the Thunderbolts.  Potts kicked 2 extra points for the Thunderbolts.

The Mid-Penn Colonial Division’s Polar Bears of Northern York (5-1 overall, 3-0 league) defeated the Bulldogs of Big Spring (3-3 overall, 1-2 league) 17-10 in league action.  Robert Shelly led the Polar Bears rushing attack with 168-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), followed by Michael Kearney with 34, Curtis Robinson with 12, Wyatt Lewis with 7, Jake Cromer with 6, Justin Markle with 3, and John Kearney with 2-yards.  Quarterback Robinson completed 3 of 10 passes for 24-yards, 1 for 20-yards to Joey Razzano (including a 20-yard touchdown), 1 for 3-yards to Cromer, and 1 for 1-yard to Joshua Fekete, and Markle completed 1 of 4 passes for 12-yards to Lewis, for the Polar Bears.  Aiden Alves kicked a 32-yard field goal and 2 extra points, Noah Smith recovered a fumble, and Cromer and Austin Miller each defended a pass, for the Polar Bears.  Jaret Petty led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 40-yards, followed by Tristan Robb with 39, Ryan Adams with 27, and Triston Cooper with 1-yard.  Quarterback Petty completed 9 of 18 passes for 61-yards, 4 for 17-yards to Cooper, 1 for 12-yards to Garrett Chestnut, 1 for 10-yards to Robb, 1 for 8-yards to Adams, 1 for 3-yards to Kenny Blessing, and 1 for minus 1-yard to Peyton Bechtold, for the Bulldogs.  Noah Keiter kicked a 37-yard field goal and 1 extra point, and Joseph Yaukey intercepted 2 passes, for the Bulldogs.

The Mid-Penn Keystone Division’s Patriots of Red Land (2-4 overall, 0-3 league) were shut out by the Mid-Penn Keystone Conference Falcons of Lower Dauphin (5-1 overall, 2-1 league) 35-0 in league action.  George Hatalowich led the Falcons rushing attack with 159-yards, followed by Brendan Shaffer with 70-yards, and Skyler Swartz with minus 2-yards.  Quarterback Klock completed 9 of 14 passes for 203-yards and 4 touchdowns, 5 for 117-yards to Evan Morrill (including touchdowns of 16 and 25-yards), 11 for 40-yards and a touchdown to Angel Cruz, 1 for 28-yards and a touchdown to Swartz, 1 for 15-yards to Justin McIntyre, and 1 for 3-yards to Michael Geesaman, for the Falcons.  Morrill returned an interception 28-yards for a touchdown, Antonio Heredia kicked 4 extra points, and Clyde Tamburro kicked 1 extra point, for the Falcons.  Justin Johnson led the Patriots rushing attack with 72-yards, followed by Hunter Briner with 23-yards, Kyle Campbell with no yards, and Jake Radic with minus 11-yards.  Quarterback Radic completed 5 of 15 passes for 45-yards, 3 for 27-yards to Jaelyn Gaither, 1 for 10-yards to Campbell, and 1 for 8-yards to Zi Reevey, for the Patriots.
