District 3 Notes for York & Adams Counties – Week 4

York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I action:

The Mustangs of South Western (3-1 overall, 1-0 League) eked out a thrilling 21-6 victory over the Colonials of New Oxford (1-3 overall, 0-1 league) in league action.  The Mustangs gained 162-yards rushing and 70-yards passing for a total of 232-yards of offense. Senior quarterback Brock Geiman completed 5 of 15 passes for the 70-yards and 2 touchdowns, 2 for 31-yards to Noah Staub (including a 20-yard touchdown), 2 for 26-yards to Jeff Green (including a 27-yard touchdown), and 1 for 13-yards to Corbin Byers, for the Mustangs.  DeSean Crump led the Mustangs rushing attack with 7 carries for 47-yards, followed by Tyler Fulmore with 9 for 44, Green with 10 for 28, Zack Hughes with 4 for 23, Geiman with 5 for 18, Michael Johnson, Jr. with 1 for 2-yards, Jacob Muir with 1 for 1-yard, Nigel Williams with 2 carries for no yards, and a team loss of 1-yard.  Wes Sneeringer kicked 3 extra points, Staub intercepted a pass and returned it 30-yards and defended 2 passes, Kaiden Gaylord recovered a fumble, Carson Perry caused a fumble, Byers recorded a sack and 3 pass hurries, Skylar Bowman and Josh Zeroth each recorded a sack, Miles Francis and Nate VanCampen each defended a pass, and Fulmore recorded 1 pass hurry, for the Mustangs.  The Colonials gained 56-yards rushing and 56 yards passing for a total of 112-yards gained.  Quarterback Corban Czap completed 5 of 11 passes for the 56-yards to Trevon Brown for the Colonials.  Joshua Shultz led the Colonials rushing attack with 21 carries for 105-yards, followed by Brown with 3 for 16, Elijah Myers with 2 for 9, Corban Czap with 10 carries for 6-yards, Ferrious Ashford with 1 carry for minus 8-yards, and Benjamin Rivera with 2 carries for minus 58-yards due to bad snaps on attempted punts.  Ashford intercepted a pass and returned it 9-yards and Brown intercepted a pass and returned it 5-yards, for the Colonials.

The Wildcats of Dallastown (4-0 overall, 1-0 league) defeated the Rockets of Spring Grove (1-3 overall, 0-1league) 20-10 in league action.  Zion DeVance led the Wildcats rushing attack with 34-yards, followed by Dillon Callahan with 28, Cade Gold with 18 (including a 2-yard touchdown), and Jack Marks with 7-yards.  Quarterback Gold completed 15 of 18 passes for 193-yards, 9 for 132-yards to Jake Jansen, 2 for 32-yards to Jawaun McMillian, 2 for 22-yards to Connor Moore, and 1 for 7-yards to Edgar Centeno, for the Wildcats.  Drake Pew kicked 2 field goals (for 32 and 22-yards) and 1 extra point, Jansen returned a kickoff 94-yards for a touchdown, and Jordan Burns and Jake Garrity each intercepted a pass and recorded a sack, Robert Paulis recorded a sack, Tyler Ingoe, Jack Lehr, Jack Marks, and Brice Register each recorded a half sack, and Max Teyral defended a pass, for the Wildcats.  Nick Erickson led the Rockets rushing attack with 37-yards, followed by LJ Chisolm with 2-yards, Ryan Daugherty with no yards, and Jake Messersmith with minus 15-yards.  Quarterback Messersmith completed 10 of 17 passes for 150 and 1 touchdown, 2 for 46-yards to Brady Stein, 3 for 24-yards to Erickson, 2 for 31-yards to Anthony Beddia, 1 for 31-yards to Daugherty, 1 for 13-yards and a touchdown to Connor Reed, and 1 for 5-yards to Seth Snively, for the Rockets.  Andrew Luckenbaugh kicked a 28-yard field goal and 1 extra point and Owen Jacobs recovered a fumble for the Rockets.

The Bobcats of Northeastern (4-0 overall, 1-0 League) shut out the Panthers of Central York (1-3 overall, 0-1 league) defeated the 42-0 in league action.  Anu Johnson lead the Bobcats rushing attack with 110-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), followed by Chris Whack with 91, Shannon Valenti, Jr. with 53 (including a 20-yard touchdown), Kody Reeser with 29 (including touchdowns of 3 and 5-yards), David Ankney with 22, Alex Seaforth with 17, Taemer Willis with an 11-yard touchdown, and Wyatt Hughes with 6-yards.  Quarterback Valenti, Jr. completed 3 of 11 passes for 68-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 32-yards and a touchdown to Jonathan Butler, 1 for 19-yards to Dezmend Wigginton, and 1 for 17-yards Jordan Zirkle, for the Bobcats.  Cameron Artman kicked 6 extra points for the Bobcats.  Shyheim Goff led the Panther rushing attack with 106-yards, followed by Will Van Dyke with 2-yards, Elzir Stroman with 1-yard, Nik Strine with minus 2-yards, and Cade Pribula with minus 7-yards.  Quarterback Strine completed 2 of 10 passes for 11-yards and quarterback Pribula completed 3 of 8 passes for 24-yards, for the Panthers.  Drew Anderson caught 1 pass for 18-yards, Shawn Johnston caught 2 passes for 9-yards, and Brandon Falkenstein caught 2 passes for 8-yards, for the Panthers.

The Lions of Red Lion (3-1 overall, 1-0 league) defeated the Bearcats of William Penn, York High, (0-4 overall, 0-1 league) 70-6 in league action.  Alex Keough led the Lions rushing attack with 151-yards (including a 15-yard touchdown), followed by Dylan Gurreri with 105 (including touchdowns of 6 and 3-yards), Dalton Grove with 19, Rodney Scott with 18 (including a 5-yard touchdown), Jamel Foster with 11, Sam Emig with a 9-yard touchdown run, and Patrick Daugherty with 7-yards (including touchdowns of 3 and 4-yards).  Quarterback Grove completed 4 of 5 passes for 107-yards and 3 touchdowns, 1 for 74-yards and a touchdown to James Jackson, 1 for 14-yards and a touchdown to Cole Snyder, 1 for 11-yards to Taylor Uberti, and 1 for 8-yards and a touchdown to Kendrick Boyd-Gillespie, for the Lions.  Emig kicked 8 extra points and threw a 2-point conversion pass to Josh Donaldson for the Lions.  Andrew Radzik led the Bearcats meager rushing attack (they were held to 30-yards for the game) with 15-yards, followed by Khalid Dorsey with 14, Angel DeJesus with 4 (including a 3-yard touchdown), Ruben Mendez with 2-yards, and Jyaire Beverly with minus 3-yards.  Quarterback DeJesus completed 7 of 17 passes for 63-yards and Beverly completed 1 pass for 4-yards for the Bearcats.  Jose Santiago caught 3 passes for 52-yards, Nyshaun Ritter caught 2 passes for 18-yards, Markeis Cash caught 2 passes for 3-yards, and Radzik caught 1 pass for minus 6-yards, for the Bearcats.

York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division II action:

The Eagles of Dover (2-2 overall, 1-0 league) defeated the Warriors of Gettysburg (1-3 overall, 0-1 league) 25-14 in league action.  Brett Mohn led the Eagles rushing attack with 72-yards (including touchdowns of 24 and 11-yards), followed by Durran Ledbetter with 49, Tad Pequignot 42 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Joey Zutell with 25, Tyler Blazosky with 12-yards, and a team loss of 28-yards.  Quarterback Blazosky completed 4 of 9 passes for 57-yards before leaving the game with an injury in the second quarter and quarterback Pequignot completed 3 of 8 passes for 39-yards, for the Eagles.  Derek Breneman caught 4 passes for 57-yards, Caden Snyder caught 1 pass for 25-yards, Andrew Hoffman caught 1 pass for 8-yards, and Zutell caught 1 pass for 6-yards, for the Eagles.  Cole Jesmer recovered a fumble and returned it 25-yards for a touchdown, Josh Bradley kicked 1 extra point, Amari Peterson intercepted a pass, and Ledbetter recovered a fumble, for the Eagles.  Edney Celius led the Warriors rushing attack with 149-yards, followed by Kahlil Hill with 7-yards, Wesley Gayle with minus 1-yard, and Tyler Wilt with minus 13-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown).  Quarterback Wilt completed 2 of 8 passes for 107-yards (including an 84-yard touchdown) to Marquise Camel for the Warriors.  The Warriors also recorded a safety when a Dover snap went out of the end zone.

The Bulldogs of West York (1-3 overall, 1-0 league) defeated the Golden Knights of Eastern York (2-2 overall, 0-1 League) 42-21 in league action.  Ryan Narber led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 122-yards (including touchdowns of 6, 36, an 6-yards), followed by Ay’Jaun Marshall with 43, Anthony Kahley with 7, Tyler Folk with 3, Mason Burcik with 2-yards, and Ramell Baldwin and Nick Spadafora with no yards each.  Quarterback Folk completed 8 of 14 passes for 151-yards and 2 touchdowns, 4 for 112-yards to Terry Cains (including a 33-yard touchdown), 1 for 34-yards and a touchdown to Thomas Bentzel, 1 for 6-yards to Dante Dorm, 1 for no yards to Marshall, and 1 for minus 1-yard to Kahley, for the Bulldogs.  Mike Messersmith recovered a fumble and returned it 10-yards for a touchdown, Folk ran in for a 2-point conversion and threw a 2-point conversion pass to Cains, and Ryan Keim kicked 1 extra point, for the Bulldogs.  Sam Pollock led the Golden Knights rushing attack with 95-yards (including touchdowns of 78 and 9-yards), followed by Logan Kline with 39, Jordan Weaver with 12, Brennen Shank with 7 (including a 9-yard touchdown), and Ryan Kalke with 7-yards.  Quarterback Kalke completed 3 of 17 passes for 34-yards, 2 for 34-yards to Jimmy Kurnick, and 1 for no yards to Kline, and Jahshim Snyder completed 1 pass for 30-yards to Seth Bernstein, for the Golden Knights.  Keegan Corwell kicked 3 extra points and Kalke recovered a fumble for the Golden Knights.

The Trojans of York Suburban (2-2 overall, 1-0 league) defeated the Rams of Kennard-Dale (1-3 overall, 0-1 league) 34-12 in league action.  Jadon Haynes led the Trojans rushing attack with 94-yards, followed by Teague Hoffman with 85 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Dajour Henderson with 63 (including a 21-yard touchdown), Travis Edwards with 24 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Thomas Merkle with 10, and Collin Mailman with 5-yards.  Quarterback Merkle completed 15 of 26 passes for 191-yards and 2 touchdowns, 9 for 124-yards to Brad Smith, 2 for 38-yards to Mailman (including a 30-yard touchdown), 1 for 14-yards to Henderson, 2 for 5-yards to Colin Deardorf (including an 8-yard touchdown, 1 for 5-yards to Edwards, and 1 for 5-yards to Hoffman, for the Trojans.  Jonas Atkison kicked 4 extra points for the Trojans.  Chase Carlisle led the Rams rushing attack with 113-yards (including a 19-yard touchdown), followed by Nick Workinger with 73, Dalton Stike with 6 (including a 1-yard touchdown), and Shawn Ellis with 3-yards.  Quarterback Stike completed 9 of 17 passes for 181-yards, 2 for 80-yards to Kyle Woolridge, 4 for 47-yards to Carlile, 2 for 47-yards to Connor Stokes, and 1 for 7-yards to Ellis, for the Rams.

The Warriors of Susquehannock (1-3 overall, 0-0 League) were shut out by the Berks Inter-County Section 1 Eagles of Exeter Township (4-0 overall, 0-0 league) 35-0 in non-league action.  Chris Scott led the Eagles rushing attack with 131-yards (including a 92-yard touchdown), followed by Brandon Unterkoefler with 50, Nick Sarangoulis with 46 (including touchdowns of 17 and 4-yards), Leroy Longenecker with 29, Naythan Beltron with 23, Jack Fiucci with 13, Hector Roman with 10-yards, and Michael Stout with minus 10-yards.  Quarterback Unterkoefler completed 6 of 8 passes for 131-yards and 2 touchdowns, 1 for 48-yards and a touchdown to Connor McGarry, 2 for 41-yards to Longenecker, 2 for 23-yards to Gabe Shappell, and 1 for 19-yards and a touchdown to Scott, for the Eagles.  Nick Bentz kicked 3 extra points, Unterkoefler ran in for a 2-point conversion, Jason Schramn intercepted a pass, Michal Menet recorded 3 sacks, and Ryan Barzd, Kordel Davis, McGarry, and Brett Moyer each recorded 1 sack, for the Eagles.  Kevin Clapp led the Warriors meager rushing attack with 18-yards, followed by Myles Moultrie with 9, Dorian Faster with 7, Kyle Orndorff with 6, Alex Kramer with 2-yards, Josh Stoneberg with minus 5-yards, and Chase Summers with minus 9-yards.  Quarterback Stoneberg completed 8 of 15 passes for 109-yards, 6 for 98-yards to Nick Tannura, and 2 for 11-yards to Ethan Schammel, for the Warriors.

The Nighthawks of Hanover (4-0 overall, 1-0 league) defeated the Eagles of Bermudian Springs, (0-4 overall, 0-1 league) 22-14 in league action.  Jordan Laughman led the Nighthawks rushing attack with 56-yards (including a 6-yard touchdown), followed by Deandre Kerr with 28 (including a 23-yard touchdown), Nick Seymour with 4-yards, Colton Ehrhart with no yards, Devon Bell with minus 3-yards, and Kyle Krout with minus 15-yards.  Quarterback Krout completed 13 of 2o passes for 233-yards and 1 touchdown, 5 for 75-yards to Resean Williams (including a 35-yard touchdown), 2 for 61yards to Luis Lara, 2 for 34-yards to Seymour, 1 for 32-yards to Hunter Martz, 2 for 27-yards to Bill Morris, and 1 for 4-yards to Ehrhart, for the Nighthawks.  Justin Barnes kicked kicked 2 extra points for the Nighthawks and they were awarded a safety when the Eagles were assessed an intentional grounding penalty in the end zone.  Chase David led the Eagles rushing attack with 37-yards, followed by Ashton West with 22, and Chase Dull with 13-yards.  Quarterback Dull completed 12 of 20 passes for 156-yards and 2 touchdowns, 4 for 47-yards to West, 4 for 42-yards to Devon Hodgen (including touchdowns of 27 and 17-yards), 2 for 42-yards to Trevor Grim, 1 for 18-yards to Brandon Jackson, and 1 for 7-yards to Quinton Nace, for the Eagles.  Noah Aeppli kicked 2 extra points for the Eagles. 

The Canners of Biglerville (2-2 overall, 1-0 league) shutout the Knights of Fairfield (1-3 overall, 0-1 league) edged the 47-0 in league action.  Malakai Curtis led the Canners rushing attack with 81-yards (including a 10-yardtouchdown), followed by Dayne Showers with 37 (including a 37-yard touchdown), Josh Brandt with 26, Colton Sentz with 23, Seth Getz with 15, Scott Cooper with 14 (including a 6-yard touchdown), Hunter Getz with 4-yards, and Ben Hurda and Gabe May with no yards each.  Quarterback Hurda completed 10 of 14 passes for 291-yards and 4 touchdowns, 1 for 81-yards and a touchdown to Sentz, 1 for 75-yards and a touchdown to Gage McAuliffe, 2 for 55-yards to Cooper (including a 47-yard touchdown), 1 for 26-yards to Brandt, 1 for 24-yards to Nick Bell, and 1 for 11-yards and a touchdown to Nate Newberry, for the Canners.  Sentz kicked 5 extra points for the Canners.  Darian Mort led the Knights rushing attack with 37-yards, followed by Tyler Karstetter with 26-yards, and Matt Petrie with minus 3-yards.  Quarterback Mort completed 12 of 29 passes for 145-yards, 6 for 87-yards to Aaron Moore, 3 for 29-yards to Petrie, 1 for 18-yards to Jordan Angerette, 1 for 10-yards to Karstetter, and 1 for 1-yard to Jonas Holtz, for the Knights.

The Thunderbolts of Littlestown (1-3 overall, 1-0 league) defeated the Spartans of York County Tech (1-3 overall, 0-1 league) 23-6 in league action.  Wesley Story led the Thunderbolts rushing attack with 168-yards (including a 56-yard touchdown), followed by Dylan Sizemore with 56, Cody Boyd with 31 (including a 5-yard touchdown), Austin Watters with 25 (including a 4-yard touchdown), and Andrew Matthews with 21-yards.  Quarterback Boyd completed 5 of 12 passes for 62-yards, 1 for 27-yards to Alex Potts, 2 for 18-yards to Brandon Pittinger, 1 for 10-yards to Jackson Hornbrook, and 1 for 7-yards to Ben Snouffer, for the Thunderbolts.  Alex Potts kicked a 30-yard field goal 2 extra points for the Thunderbolts.  Kahliek Savery led the Spartans rushing attack with 99-yards (including a 45-yard touchdown), followed by Matthew Rossi with 27, Damarius Wiggins with 17, JD Miles with 12, Josiah Smallwood with 5-yards, and Maurice James with no yards.  Quarterback Wiggins completed 3 of 13 passes for 46-yards, 1 for 19-yards to James, 1 for 18-yards to Luis Deleon, and 1 for 9-yards to Curtis Smith, and Smallwood completed 1 of 2 passes for 1-yard to Savery, for the Spartans.

The Fighting Irish of York Catholic (1-3 overall, 1-0 league) edged the Squires of Delone Catholic (1-3 overall, 0-1 league) 29-24 in league action.  Jakkar Kinard led the Fighting Irish rushing attack with 157-yards (including touchdowns of 77 and 21-yards), followed by Daniel Yokemick with 25-yards, and Sean Lamont with minus 1-yard.  Quarterback Yokemick completed 9 of 13 passes for 178-yards and 2 touchdowns, 4 for 112-yards to Luke Brennan (including a 57-yard touchdown), 4 for 61-yards to Joseph Bauhoff (including a 26-yard touchdown), and 1 for 5-yards to Brandon Creisher, for the Fighting Irish.  The Fighting Irish were awarded a safety when the Squires were assessed an intentional grounding penalty in the end zone, Brennan kicked 3 extra points and Yokemick intercepted a pass, for the Fighting Irish.  Sean Sneeringer led the Squires rushing attack with 140-yards (including touchdowns of 71 and 25-yards), followed by Tavian Dorsey with 67 (including a 3-yard touchdown), Zachary Hart with 17, (including a 3-yard touchdown), Brian Shermeyer with 7, and Ryan Hart with 7-yards.  Quarterback Shermeyer completed 4 of 13 passes for 33-yards, 3 for 24-yards to Sneeringer and 1 for 9-yards to Brandon Zumbrum, for the Squires.  Dorsey intercepted a pass and returned it 5-yards, Bryce Perkins intercepted a pass with no return, and Wade Neiderer and Logan Panzer each recorded a sack, for the Squires.

Mid-Penn Conference action:

The Mid-Penn Keystone Division’s Patriots of Red Land (2-2 overall, 0-1 league) were defeated by the Trojans of Hershey (2-2 overall, 1-0 league) 34-7 in league action.  Jesse Nwabueze-Ogbo led the Trojans rushing attack with 247-yards (including 2 touchdowns), followed by Ryan Nerino with 98-yards (including 1 touchdown), and a team loss of 17-yards.  Quarterback Nerino completed 8 of 18 passes for 53-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 21-yards and a touchdown to Aaron Gethers, 2 for 14-yards to Elijah McNelley, 2 for 13-yards to James Sheehan, 1 for 4-yards to Stone Musser, 1 for 2-yards to Joe Brittain, and 1 for minus 1-yard to Nwabueze-Ogbo, for the Trojans.  Vincent Paioletti kicked 2 field goals and 4 extra points for the Trojans.  Hunter Briner led the Patriots rushing attack with 49-yards, followed by Jake Radic with 31, Justin Johnson with 27 (including 1 touchdown), Jordan Weldon with 14-yards, and Josiah Espinosa with minus 3-yards.  Quarterback Radic completed 6 of 24 passes for 49-yards and Briner completed 2 of 4 passes for 26-yards for the Patriots.  Briner caught 2 passes for 30-yards, Jake Rollman caught 2 passes for 21-yards, Kyle Campbell caught 1 pass for 14-yards, Zi Reevy caught 1 pass for 9-yards, Joe Crocenzi caught 1 pass for 2-yards, and Johnson caught 1 pass for minus 1-yard, for the Patriots.   Chad Stout kicked 1 extra point, Crocenzi intercepted a pass and recorded a sack, Cline recorded a sack and caused 2 fumbles, Weston Brantner recorded a sack, Espinosa caused a fumble, and Justin Bugey and Jaelyn Gaither each defended a pass, for the Patriots.

The Mid-Penn Colonial Division’s Polar Bears of Northern York (3-1 overall, 1-0 league) shut out the Rockets of James Buchanan (0-4 overall, 0-1 league) 51-0 in league action.  Robert Shelly led the Polar Bears rushing attack with 83-yrds (including a 26-yard touchdown), followed by Michael Kearney with 51 (including touchdowns of 1 and 1-yards), Jordan Eutzy with 19, Ray Avila with 17 (including a 5-yard touchdown), Hunter Hrinda with 14, Justin Markle with 11-yards, Jake Cromer with minus 2-yards, and Curtis Robison with minus 14-yards.  Quarterback Robison completed 5 of 10 passes for 105-yards and 2 touchdowns, 2 for 51-yards to Andrew Swaisgood (including a 34-yard touchdown), 1 for 22-yards and a touchdown to Jared Sutch, 1 for 16-yards to John Kearney, and 1 for 16-yards to Joey Razzano, and Markle completed 1 of 2 passes for 23-yards to John Kearney, for the Polar Bears.  Aidan Alves kicked 6 extra points, Jake Coover kicked 1 extra point, Swaisgood intercepted 2 passes and returned one 44-yards for a touchdown, John Kearney intercepted 1 pass, Noah Smith recovered 1 fumble and caused 1 fumble, Shelly caused a fumble, and Ray Avila defended a pass, for the Polar Bears.  Remi Spoonhour led the Rockets non existent rushing attack (held to minus 6-yards for the game) with 6-yards, followed by Dillon Sanders with 4, Seth Carbaugh with 2-yards, Caden Ficks with 1-yard, Kenny Gordon with 1-yard, Evan Stoner with no yards, Clay Sanders with minus 4-yards, and a team loss of 16-yards.  Quarterback Spoonhour completed 2 of 13 passes for 18-yards, 1 for 15-yards to Carlos Rauch and 1 for 3-yards to Stoner, for the Rockets.
